Manic Monday Freebie and Made It Monday!!!

I am joining two linky parties today. I'm joining Classroom Freebies for Manic Monday. This is a great linky to find all kinds of freebies for your babies. I'm also joining 4th Grade Frolics for Made it Monday! This is a great linky to see how crafty all these awesome educators are.

For my Manic Monday Freebie, I've created a calendar set. It contains the months, 1-31, and years.
I am going to attach magnets to them and post them on my magnetic white board.

For my Made It Monday I revamped my filling cabinets.

This is what I started with. I've had them both hidden in my closet! I was afraid that they might scare the children!

The only materials I need was contact paper, scissors and patience! Since my classroom theme is zebra that is what I picked. They have all kinds of colors and designs now. It was 5.48 for one roll at Walmart. I was able to cover both filing cabinets with one roll.

This is the final project. I didn't think about taking pictures during the process because I was melting. It was over 90 degrees in my classroom. I do have a few tips:

1. Smaller pieces are much easier to handle. You can't even tell it overlaps when you layer with small pieces.
2. I used a pushpin to make a small hole as a guide to cut out the handles.
3. Cover the drawers with them out and do not fold it over, cut it, so there is no extra on the sides. It sticks if not:(

I'm also looking for bloggers to link up here. I'll be sharing this next week when I present at the TETA conference. I would like to provide all these great teachers from across TN with awesome blogs to check out.

Thank you for stopping by and checking out my creations!

Sunday Smorgasbord

I'm joining Fabulous in First for her Sunday Smorgasbord! You should head over there to see all the other neat smorgasbord of ideas from great bloggers.

I love zebra themed anything, (and I mean anything). I've been working on updating a few things in my classroom and of course, they had to be zebra themed.

Your Zone Zebra Decorative Bath Collection - Wastecan
I purchased a new trash pail for next to my small group table. I found it at Walmart in the bath department for $8.96

I created zebra number circles for 1-100. Click on the picture to download them for free!

I'm also looking for tutorials on how to redo my office chair! I have a cloth office chair at one of my student computers, and it needs a makeover badly. If you know of an excellent tutorial that doesn't require a lot of skills, please send it my way.

Be sure to follow me on Facebook! I've been sharing some awesome flash freebies from all the great teacher-bloggers I follow. Click on the picture to head to my Facebook page! Also, if you're an awesome blogger on Facebook share the link. I would love to follow you!

Saturday Snapshot!

I'm joining Run Miss Nelsons Got the Camera for Saturday Snapshots. This past week was my last week facilitating as a TN Core Coach. I'm looking forward to seeing/hearing all the great success stories from the teachers at our next training in September. I also worked in my classroom on Friday with my wonderful husband. He wins husband of the year, because not only did he spend his entire day off in classroom, but he spent it in a very, very hot classroom.

This is a hot mess! I had been hiding these in my closet, but decided to bring them into the light!
I've transformed them and will post all about it on Monday!

I'm heart broken this year, because I had to give away my tables and use desks instead.
My class sizes are going to be much bigger this year and I couldn't fit two more tables to accommodate them. I haven't had desks in years:(

4700 Series Collaborative Learning Desk<brGrouping of four shown. Desks sold separately.
I would love, love to have these desks! They are so great for cooperative learning.
If I did this with my current desks, kids would be trapped inside their desk!
So if any ones would like to buy these for Christmas for me, I would be every so grateful!

Here's another picture of my mess!

Here is one of the wonderful things my hubby did. He organized my monster mess of wires.
Look how pretty it looks now! Now I just need the blue container to match my computer desk!

Go check out some more snapshots from teachers over at Run Mrs. Nelsons Got the Camera

Worksheet Wednesday and What's Happening Wednesday

I am joining The Teaching Tribune for Worksheet Wednesday! My freebie for the linky isn't technically a worksheet, but I thought you would still like it. I have a zebra themed classroom and wanted to share the zebra love. I've created zebra themed parts of speech posters.

Click here to grab the whole set!

If your interested in finding more great freebies for the classroom head over to The Teaching Tribune to check out what the other teachers have shared and created.

I am also joining up with Smedley's Smorgasboard of Kindergarten for What's Happening Wednesday! My Wednesday has been pretty remarkable. I spent the entire day with 3rd-5th-grade teachers learning about SRSD strategies. I may be the Core Coach presenting this summer to all these wonderful teachers, but they have taught me so much. I am looking forward to using a lot of their ideas in my classroom this year. I hope everyone else had a wonderful Wednesday, too!

Show and Tell Linky, Paired Texts Resources

I'm joining Barb over at Ruby Slippers for a Show and Tell Linky. If your looking for a blog design, she is your lady. She designed my awesome blog design.

I just finished my first day of week 3 training as a core coach. A huge part of training is teaching students to write in response to paired texts and multiple texts. So I've gone a search for resources, especially free resources (my favorite). I was successful (Yay) in my search and have shared them below.

FREE! Paired nonfiction and fiction reading passages, click on picture

Paired Text Lessons: Direct links to texts

I am going to continue the hunt for paired resources. If you have found some online paired texts, please, please share them in the comments below. Have an awesome night!

Manic Monday Vocabulary Cube Freebie!

I have been thinking about what words I should use for my vocabulary study in my classroom for the next year. I've used the words assigned by the reading series for a long time, but it is time for a change. I found a book "The Reading Teacher's Book of Lists" by Edward B. Fry. Love this book! Using the book I picked words for weekly lists. Each list has 20 words. You can find all my lists at my Spelling City site.  The words on the list make up 65 percent of all written material.

I paid 29.95 for the book, but Amazon has it for much less.

For my freebie, I created a Vocabulary Cube for the week 1 list. Students can work together to match the sides of the cards to make a cube. Click on the picture below to get the freebie!

Vocabulary Cube for Week 1

Head over to Classroom Freebies to check out the other freebies!

What do you use for your vocabulary? I would love to hear everyone's ideas on teaching vocabulary

Hanging Posters In The Classroom!

Each year for TCAP testing we have to take down anything educational in our room. Actually anything with words on it has to come down. I found I was spending a lot of money on supplies to reattach posters to the classroom wall. I was so excited when I found command picture clips at Walmart about four years ago. I can now change out posters throughout the year, easily take them down to use in instruction, and then put them right back. The math teacher on my team then wanted some for her room. We looked everywhere....Walmart....Target....Home Depot and could never find them. That's why I least that is what I tell myself. You never know if it will be there the next time you want them.  I've finally found them on Amazon!

Not a very good picture, but you can see it does its job!

I'm linking up with Fabulous in First! Go check out her blog for more great ideas!
